Point to Point is an audio walk like no other. Staged on the mighty landscape of the Lake District, it features a beautiful blend of words and music, creating an immersive, theatrical experience that lifts the soul, directs the eye and conceives a new connection with this extraordinary setting.
The rich culture of the Lake District is illuminated by Point to Point’s enchanting soundscape of original music and new writing. The downloadable audio tracks take the user on a journey of exploration across Wainwright’s Walla Crag, one of the Lakeland’s finest fells, as they listen at specific points along the route.
This innovative and exciting audio walk has been created and devised by a committed team of artists, including Louie Ingham (Director), Mark Melville (Sound Designer & Composer) and Lee Mattinson (Writer), who have taken inspiration from the famous British fell walker Alfred Wainwright and his Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells.
This thoughtful fusion of spoken word and music creates a fresh look at life, landscape, people and history and explores a series of big questions – What happens to our minds when we ‘get out in the hills’? What sort of surprising and uplifting stories lie across this land? How is modern living impacting us? Key to this exploration is a fun and engaging approach that translates into a truly unforgettable and personal experience.
Point to Point kicks off on 13 April and runs until the end of October 2015. The audio tracks and walking guide with safety tips can be downloaded from here. Save the audio files to your device – your iPad, tablet, phone, I-POD – whatever suits you, and print and read the downloadable guide before you set off. Don’t forget your headphones and walking boots! The fell walk takes about four to five hours, depending on your fitness level and promises a challenging but rewarding route.
