Abbot Hall is delighted to present an exhibition of work by Cumbrian artist Julian Cooper on the occasion of his 70th birthday. The show comprises 30 monumental paintings that serve as a powerful distillation of his extensive output over the last 45 years, ranging from domestic-sized works less than a metre tall to enormous canvases nearly three metres wide.

The sixth edition of the Bowness Bay Blues Festival promises a fantastic line-up of performances from 27 different bands across 6 venues in Bowness, plus another 3 venues at the Windermere Fringe. Alongside an impressive full programme of music over the weekend – this year’s festival sees a return of the popular music trail and the Blues Cruise – a two-hour cruise, with music provided by Matt Woosey, on the evening of Saturday 8 April with Windermere Lake Cruises. A range of tickets and weekend passes are now available.

Where is Peter Rabbit Egg Hunt 2017

The ‘Where is Peter Rabbit Treasure Trail?’ is a digital egg hunt using an interactive map to find 100 ceramic eggs with top prizes hidden. Prizes include theatre tickets and overnight stays at luxury hotels. The event raises money for WaterAid, an international charity providing clean water and sanitation to some of the world’s poorest communities. A minimum donation of £4 to WaterAid is required to take part.

Theatre by the Lake starts the season with the world premiere of William Wordsworth – a fantastic new play written by Nicholas Pierpan looking at a Wordsworth’s real life and inspiration for his works.

The Rheged Centre is the place to be this Easter for the whole family. Join Sooz in this fun family patchwork workshop on 8 & 9 April to complete a pretty patchwork flower using hexagon patchwork templates. £12 (1 adult and 1 child included in ticket price).

New Quilting is an exhibition to challenge perceptions of quilt making, revealing a strong and vibrant contemporary craft form. Quilts by national and Cumbrian makers have been selected for their quality of craftsmanship and design, use of colour and innovative approaches. £2 per person
